- Check Opener Limits: The Opener limits are typically located on the back of the opener. It is important to ensure the limits are not turned up too high, this can cause serious injury as well as burn out the motor or gear.
- Check Spring Tension: Now as scary as this sounds you do not have to take out any tools or touch the springs. This process starts by releasing the door from the opener, continue by running the door by hand, Check to ensure the door balances in the middle, does not fall down at the top and is not more than 10lbs at the bottom.
- Check for rust: Rust is one of the biggest problems concerning garage doors and their operation. Checking the bottom of the door and making sure the seal is intact to keep moister away from the door is key.
